How We Serve

As individuals, we strive to be models of our mission within our very persons. As a Congregation, we seek to make all our ministries reflections of our living Charism and mission. This expectation intensifies our need to develop comprehensive, practical and consistent Mission Effectiveness Programs for ourselves, Associates, and our co-ministers.
Chapter 2011 Direction Statement

The Sisters of St. Joseph have a tradition of ministering wherever we are needed. We minister in the Brooklyn and Rockville Centre Dioceses, as well as in the New York Archdiocese. We also minister in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Indiana, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Appalachia, California, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. We are educators from elementary to the university level, social workers, health care professionals, lawyers, medical doctors, parish ministers, administrators and spiritual directors.

In addition, the Congregation has ministries which it owns and operates independently. These are known as sponsored ministries. They include six high schools, a learning program for immigrant women, and a skilled nursing facility.

Believing that we are all equal as created by God, we are committed to respect the dignity of all. Since women and girls do not enjoy this equality, we will strive to secure their empowerment by education, by advocacy and by providing opportunities for them to develop their gifts and make their voices heard.
