S.Tesa Fitzgerald receives Ozanam Award

In the letter from St. John's University to Sister Tesa announcing the conferring of the Ozanam Award it said:

Congratulations, Sister! Your consistent leadership, creativity and courage at Hour Children has been as inspiring as it has been developmental for the women and children.

The Ozanam Award is given " to an organization which demonstrates success and creativity in integrating quality service with effective, efficacious, respectful concern for poor or needy persons. It is awarded to an organization for special service, a unique organizational purpose, a corporate culture which develops sensitivity to the disenfranchised, or an advocacy initiative to improve the situation of the poor and vulnerable." Hour Children fits that description extremely well.

The award was given during the Vincentian Convocation
on January 28, 2010 as a major event of Founder’s Week.
